A House With A Hat, a residential building designed by FELT in Ghent, Belgium, introduces a distinctive architectural enhancement by adding a hat-shaped second story to an existing sixties bungalow. This addition expands the living space and integrates unique design elements that enhance the structure’s functionality and aesthetic appeal.

FELT has reimagined a detached single-family house by integrating a hat-shaped second story atop the original structure from the sixties. This innovative design extends vertically, adding a new layer of spatial dynamics to the home.

On the new first floor, a diamond-shaped central hall connects three bedrooms and a bathroom, optimizing the use of space with its unique configuration. The ground floor features diagonally connected living spaces, facilitating an open and interactive environment.

The highlight of the renovation is the double-height dining space, crowned with a barrel-vaulted ceiling. This architectural feature creates vertical connectivity between the two floors as a central light well, illuminating the core of the home and enriching the living experience.
