Jean nouvel’s “vision machine” condo leaves tenants sucking wind

Star architect Jean Nouvel’s “Vision Machine” condo building in Chelsea — home to actor Kelsey Grammer and Motives cosmetics founder Loren Ridinger — is more like a wind machine, according to a new lawsuit.

Ridinger says the luxury 23-story building is so poorly constructed that residents of the multimillion-dollar units can feel drafts off the Hudson River through the glass façade.

Ridinger is suing developers Curtis Bashaw, Keith Bashaw and Craig Wood of Cape Advisors in Manhattan Supreme Court over the $20 million flaw.

The eye-catching, 55-unit building along the West Side Highway at West 19th is constructed from 1,700 irregularly shaped glass panels.

It was designed by Nouvel, a Pritzker Prize-winning architect whose latest project is the nearly-completed MoMA Tower at 53 W. 53rd St. The French architect is also working on the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the National Art Museum of China. […]
