P House, a residential building designed by Cherem Arquitectos in Mexico City, employs a linear stroke of concrete walls to define its silhouette. Completed in 2013, the house integrates with its natural surroundings through a central courtyard and a portico, enhancing the landscape connection.
Located in Mexico City, P House is constructed with a single linear stroke of concrete walls, forming the house’s silhouette. Two concrete volumes with an outer skin are intertwined, embracing the natural surroundings and creating a central courtyard and a portico to the landscape.
A curved wall guides access, revealing initial views of the house where different planes intersect, first the courtyard, then the garden.
The interior walls, designed as concrete curtains, slide to allow light penetration while offering exterior views and guiding movement through the house. The ground floor of the first concrete volume contains public spaces: living room, dining room, and games room, all open to northwest views and connected to the garden and terrace. The first floor houses the private areas: two bedrooms oriented towards the east for views and light, and a third bedroom facing the garden with a view of a wooded area.
The silhouette created by the concrete walls produces a fusion effect between the interior and exterior due to the wooded location.
The house establishes a dynamic relationship between solid planes and transparencies, allowing crossing views throughout and maintaining the central courtyard as a protected core by the movement of the concrete walls.
