BOKA Powell-designed tower offers two, three and four-bedroom residential units with panoramic views of the Sun Devil Stadium; amenities include resort-style pool, indoor/outdoor study areas and fully equipped kitchens
University House Communities has opened the second phase of University House, a private luxury student housing development on Arizona State University’s campus. Designed by Dallas-based architecture firm BOKA Powell to complement an existing adjacent first phase, the 16-story, 148,680-square-foot building has 242 beds with two, three and four-bedroom options.
“University House represents a new trend in luxury student housing, with top-of-the-line features including nine-foot exposed concrete ceilings, porcelain tile bathrooms, and full-sized washers and dryers,” said David Pierce, executive vice president of development, University House Communities.
University House amenities include a resort-style pool and hot tub, a scoreboard-sized LED outdoor TV screen, a clubroom with gaming systems, a yoga and steam room, fitness center, outdoor grilling stations as well as indoor/outdoor study areas and conference rooms. Apartments range from 716 to 1,289 square feet, with modern, fully equipped kitchens. Each unit has floor-to-ceiling windows that provide panoramic views of the Sun Devil Stadium across the street.
We successfully utilized the traditional design elements already present in the existing building, but upgraded the new building to give it more dynamism and visual appeal as the most prominent student housing development on campus,
– said John Orfield, principal, BOKA Powell.
Sixthriver Architects handled the interior design for the new tower, emphasizing bold geometric motifs and merging the modern character of the project’s architecture with a refined, yet youthful interior. Materials and furnishings include mirrored tile, natural wood planks and exposed concrete.
University House is located near the Mill Avenue entertainment district in Tempe, close to a light rail system. Units are available to students for nine and 12-month leases, and are move-in ready with platform beds, kitchen and living room furniture.
