Did you know the Henry Art Gallery is the first public art museum in the state of Washington?
In 1926, Seattle businessman Horace C. Henry donated a prominent collection and the necessary funding to construct a museum on the University of Washington campus. Mr. Henry and the University of Washington selected the well-known Seattle-based architect, Carl F. Gould of the architectural partnership Bebb and Gould to build the Henry Art Gallery.
