Garden House, designed by DCPP arquitectos, is a residential project in San Angel, Mexico City. The house has two facades: one close to the neighborhood and one open to a south-facing garden. Mainly on a single level, it includes a guest/playroom and service room upstairs. The ground floor has three blocks: private, public, and service areas. The L-shaped design opens to the garden, with living and dining rooms that are fully open to blend indoor and outdoor spaces. Steel beams provide structural support and serve as parasols, while the service area remains more closed and massive.
The house features two facades: one that is closed off to the neighborhood and another that opens up to a south-facing back garden.
The majority of the house is designed on a single level, with a guest or playroom and a service room situated on the second floor.
The ground floor of the house is divided into three sections: a private area, a public area, and a service area.
The house follows an L-shaped design that opens to the garden, with a perpendicular section housing the living and dining rooms. This part of the house is transparent on both sides and can be fully opened, allowing the enclosures to be hidden. This creates a terrace-like space where the boundary between interior and exterior blurs, establishing visual continuity with the garden.
To avoid placing supports in this area as in the private area, steel beams were integrated to keep the space clear and also function as parasols. In contrast, the service area is more massive and enclosed, giving the house a unique twist and creating a varied play of shadows.
