Giant Interactive Group Corporate Headquarters, designed by Morphosis Architects in Shanghai, is a 23,997 m² campus completed in 2010. This compact village integrates diverse functions within a flexible framework, blending architecture with the landscape. The East Campus includes a pool, sports court, and relaxation areas under an expansive green roof.

The Giant Campus project by Morphosis architects is a compact village designed to accommodate diverse functions within a flexible framework of forms integrated into a folded landscape plane. Located among existing canals and a new man-made lake in Shanghai, the undulating office building merges architecture with the environment. The East Campus office building features three zones: open, non-hierarchical office space, private offices, and executive suite cantilevering over the lake.

Additional facilities are incorporated into the lifted landscape, such as a library, auditorium, exhibition space, and café on the East Campus. The West Campus, with its expansive undulating green roof, includes a pool, multi-purpose sports court, and additional relaxation and fitness spaces for employees. The landform culminates in the west at a company guest hotel where glass-floored private bedroom suites project over a wildlife pond.

Several plazas carved from the landscape provide outdoor break and recreational spaces for employees. A pedestrian plaza at the south edge of the campus steps down to the water’s edge, offering continuous outdoor walkways and access to the lake. The main circulation spine, an enclosed walkway, bridges over the street, connecting the east and west campuses.

The project maximizes energy efficiency and occupant comfort through various features. The landscapes green roof on the West Campus provides thermal mass to limit heat gain and reduce cooling costs. The double skin facade and insulated glass curtain wall minimize solar heat gain and enhance efficiency. The central circulation spine, along with recreational amenities and plazas, offer opportunities for informal encounters and gathering spaces without the confines of cubicles. The narrow office building profile and skylights ensure continuous natural daylight for employees.
