Designed by Aedas Global Design Principal Ken Wai, Executive Directors Wei Li, and Feili Shen, the Hangzhou Alibaba DAMO Nanhu Industry Parkb integrates state-of-the-art offices, tech laboratories, and a visitor center, creating a world-class research workplace in Hangzhou. Occupying 228,100 square meters, the park is situated in the center of Nanhu Science City, surrounded by abundant landscape resources and lush vegetation. The design emulates the form of a Bodhi leaf, with veins creating open courtyards and view corridors.

The design is oriented towards the east, featuring cascading courtyard buildings. The finger-shaped office buildings are aligned with the view corridor, while the canteen and public amenities are centrally located on the north-south axis for easy access. A serene yet dynamic environment is achieved through the integration of landscape and architecture. The office buildings utilize a column-grid structure with a flexible and modular layout, integrating office and conference spaces. Modular office blocks can be linked to create workspaces ranging from 500 to 4,000 square meters.

Courtyards, gardens, and public plazas are embedded between buildings, providing spaces for relaxation and activities where natural elements thrive in a symbiotic relationship. The elegant office building forms are encased in a jagged glass curtain wall to maximize privacy between structures. Ken Wai described the park as blending authentic culture and technology into its architectural form, integrating the buildings with their surroundings, and showcasing future office and workplace design.
