Located near Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula, the project is situated on the Mornington foreshore, facing Port Phillip Bay and bordering the mouth of a local creek. The site’s prime location adds to the appeal of these double-storey houses, offering both scenic views and proximity to natural features.
The design uses materials suited to the coastal environment, incorporating an indigenous coastal landscape to ensure the building harmonizes with its surroundings. The design draws inspiration from foreshore pier proportions and detailing, aiming to enhance the public realm through its interaction with the creek mouth.
The houses were constructed using Habitech’s modular flat-packed wall and roof panels. Despite the technical challenges of the site, the project was completed in just 8.5 months.
The local firm Individual Builders constructed the houses, which have received the Victorian HIA Best Townhouse of the Year award.
