TRANS(h)itos Installation / Conjuntos Empáticos, displayed at the Cloister of Sant Domenec in Balaguer from October 1-15, 2022, explores the intersection of architectural space and the memory of women. Featuring inflatable structures with reflective membranes, the installation creates a unique atmosphere that encourages sensory engagement and reflection. The circular structure extends 20 meters and serves as a passage and viewpoint, resonating with the voices of three prominent women from Catalan history—Lluïsa Vidal, María Cinta Balagué, and Elena Maseras. This ephemeral architecture invites visitors to experience a dialogue between historical heritage and contemporary design.
This installation, featured in the cloister of Sant Domenec in Balaguer from October 1-15, 2022, serves as an experimental piece connecting architectural space with the memory of women. The project envisions architecture as a seemingly impassive canvas that holds traces of countless stories from the past.
Within the cloister, the installation proposes an ephemeral architecture designed to recover and reflect on the singular stories of women from the past. A reflective membrane encloses an airflow, creating an environment that interacts with its surroundings, fostering a contemplative atmosphere.
The inflatable structures resemble living organisms, stirring a sense of restlessness in passersby through their lightness, materiality, and element of surprise. These qualities ensure a sensory experience deeply influenced by the surrounding environment and public space.
The inflatable structure features a reflective membrane that functions as both a transit space and a viewpoint. Its circular section spans 20 meters along one side of the cloister, creating an atmosphere of estrangement where the voices of three women can be heard, forming a passage that connects significant female landmarks.
From within this passage, visitors can observe the garden enclosed by the cloister, accompanied by the voices of prominent women from 20th-century Catalan history: artist Lluïsa Vidal, journalist María Cinta Balagué, and doctor Elena Maseras. This creates a sensory experience that blends space, atmosphere, and memory, merging historical heritage with contemporary ephemeral architecture.
