The Municipal Tanatory, designed by Diaz Romero Arquitectos, features monolithic concrete volumes with wooden slat formwork, blending abstract architecture with natural surroundings, and pyramid-shaped lanterns in the waiting rooms that evoke mixed emotions.
The Municipal Tanatory emerges as monolithic bodies in the midst of nature. Concrete volumes of varying heights, with wooden slat formwork tinted the color of vine plants, create a stark contrast between the abstract, artificial structure and the surrounding landscape.
The pyramid-shaped lanterns in the waiting rooms and candle area elicit a range of emotions during the building’s use.

Location is for general reference and may represent a city or country, not necessarily a precise address.
Often good architecture can get too precious. Rooms become pre-prescribed by the designer. A family can grow in this house. Adjustments in defining spaces can be permanent or week to week.
